IGR 21-15, “Owners Unknown” Assessments
The Department of Revenue, Division of Local Services has issued a new Informational Guideline Release regarding the assessment of real property taxes on “owners unknown” parcels. The Municipal Modernization Act expanded the authority of Assessors to levy taxes on owners unknown without obtaining the approval of the Commissioner of Revenue. If your municipality has parcels with unknown owners, you’ll want to review the latest IGR 21-15, “Owners Unknown Assessments.”
Cannabis Control Commission Issues FAQ on Delivery
As discussed in our January newsletter, the Cannabis Control Commission issued new regulations governing the delivery of marijuana within the Commonwealth. The Commission has now updated its FAQ on delivery to reflect the new regulations. Notably, the FAQ includes a link to the Commission’s Municipal Zoning Tracker, which purports to indicate whether delivery is allowed in a particular community. Municipal officials are encouraged to review this table and notify the Commission if any changes are needed.
