Certain Special COVID Rules are Extended
Chapter 22 of the Acts of 2022 went into effect on February 15, 2022. It has several important provisions.
It extends until July 15, 2022, the option of allowing boards and committees to meet remotely so long as public access is provided by “adequate, alternative means.”
It once again permits Select Boards, with the Moderator’s approval, to decrease quorum requirements for Town Meeting, so long as the quorum is not less than 10% of the ordinary quorum minimum attendance.
It extends to calendar year 2022 an exemption from the limits to hours (960) or earnings (last salary + $15,000) of a retiree who provides services, whether as an employee or independent contractor, to a municipality. This exemption does not apply, however, to a retiree on disability retirement.
