Certain Special COVID Rules are Extended

Chapter 22 of the Acts of 2022 went into effect on February 15, 2022. It has several important provisions.

  • It extends until July 15, 2022, the option of allowing boards and committees to meet remotely so long as public access is provided by “adequate, alternative means.”

  • It once again permits Select Boards, with the Moderator’s approval, to decrease quorum requirements for Town Meeting, so long as the quorum is not less than 10% of the ordinary quorum minimum attendance.

  • It extends to calendar year 2022 an exemption from the limits to hours (960) or earnings (last salary + $15,000) of a retiree who provides services, whether as an employee or independent contractor, to a municipality. This exemption does not apply, however, to a retiree on disability retirement.
